Ramaphosa: US visit achieved its objectives
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
President Cyril Ramaphosa says last week's visit to the United States achieved the objective of resetting relations between the two countries.

The meeting between him and US President Donald Trump was overshadowed by Trump's ambush at the White House, when he played a video falsely claiming there is a genocide against white South Africans.
Ramaphosa answered questions in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Several EFF MPs were removed from the house after the party accused Ramaphosa of failing to defend the Constitutional Court ruling on the legality of the 'Kill the Farmer’ chant during his visit to Washington.
Earlier in the dag, Ramaphosa said the chant did not really mean for farmers to be killed.
Nevertheless, Ramaphosa said the trip achieved its objectives of resting relations with the US, reset diplomatic engagement and encourage Trump to attend the G20 Summit later this year.
"So we do believe that we achieved those objectives. The engagement with the American government has started. Soon after we left Washington, the engagement has now commenced.
"There are discussions that are happening in relation to tariffs, in relation to investments, and we believe that we have reset the relationship despite what we could have seen on television.
"We had meaningful exchanges on a number of issues, and we do believe that the engagement will continue through the G20 process," he added.
