Ramaphosa not too concerned over Zuma's political future

ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says he is not fazed by the lack of political support from former President Jacob Zuma.

Ramaphosa spoke to the media on the eve of Zuma’s announcement this past weekend in which he slammed Ramaphosa’s leadership and the ANC.
The former President announced on Saturday that he will not campaign nor vote for the ANC in the national elections in 2024.
The 81-year-old said “it would be a betrayal to campaign for the ANC of Ramaphosa”, instead he said he would vote for the Umkhonto We Sizwe (MK) Party, which was only registered this year and is named after the old armed wing of the ANC.
The latest developments come in the midst of warnings by political analysts that the ANC could experience a drastic decline in votes in the upcoming elections due to frustrated citizens who have to deal with poor service delivery, load shedding, corruption, unemployment and crime among other things.
Speaking at the ANC's 2019 manifesto review wrap-up event in Alberton on Friday, Ramaphosa said he was not too concerned over Zuma's continued public criticisms of the ruling party.
“He has over time been making a number of announcements, we note that, there’s nothing I can do but to note.”
“I think in the end we are making a big issue out of this, much larger than what it should be. In the end, as members of the ANC, we would like everyone to be in the field to campaign but if you are not able to campaign, that’s it the work must go on”.
