Rea Vaya bus operations suspended amid safety concerns
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
The City of Johannesburg has announced the indefinite suspension of the Rea Vaya bus services on Thursday amid safety concerns.

This comes just under two weeks after two Rea Vaya feeder bus drivers were shot and killed in Soweto.
On Wednesday, the service used social media to notify customers of service disruptions in the Thokoza Park and Pimville areas - saying only that the city was working on safety and security measures.
The City's spokesperson, Virgil James, apologised to commuters for the inconvenience.
“Services have been suspended due to safety and security concerns raised by the bus operating companies. The City is engaging with the companies to establish and resolve the safety concerns so that services can resume as soon as possible.”
He said the City would continue to give regular updates.
