Rea Vaya bus services suspended indefinitely
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The Rea Vaya bus services in Johannesburg have been suspended until further notice.

This was after some transport stakeholders raised issues relating to feeder routes.
Last week, the decision was taken to return 45-seater feeder buses rolled out on Monday.
The buses have been transporting commuters on the Rea Vaya routes namely F1 (Naledi to Thokoza Park station), F2 (Protea Glen to Thokoza Park station), F3 (Jabavu to Lakeview station), F4 (Mofolo to Orlando Police station), F5 (Eldorado Park to Lakeview station).
However, by Monday afternoon taxi operators protested against the feeder buses.
Rea Vaya spokesperson Benny Makgoga has urged passengers to use alternate public transport until services resume.
"Rea Vaya passengers are informed that buses are temporarily suspended until further notice. Some transport stakeholders have raised issues relating to the 45 (seater) buses that operate in Soweto. We are engaging with the stakeholders to establish the cause of the problem. Regular updates on the situation will be given and we advise passengers to use alternative public transport. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
Makgoga adds that the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Transport, Kenny Kunene, will be meeting with the public transport operators on Tuesday to resolve the cause of the problem.
"We do have a meeting with the public transport operators who have raised issues regarding the operation of the 45 PioTrans feeder buses that we have just rolled out into operation yesterday (Monday). After the meeting I am pretty sure that there will be a solution to the problem and we will issue a statement afterwards.
