Rea Vaya suspends Soweto feeder bus services
Updated | By Lebogang Ndashe
Soweto commuters were left stranded on Thursday morning
after Johannesburg Metro suspended Rea Vaya feeder bus services indefinitely, due
to ongoing safety and security concerns.

The suspension has forced residents to seek alternative transport as investigations into the issue continue.
This comes after two Rea Vaya bus drivers were murdered earlier this month, prompting the temporary shutdown of 58 bus stations, leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
In recent years, the bus rapid transit system has struggled with various challenges, including wage-related strikes, financial issues, and service disruptions.
Following the recent shootings, metro police have been providing escort services for buses from stations to their final destinations, with investigations still underway.
Rea Vaya spokesperson Benny Makgoga confirmed that the suspension only affects the feeder services, with other buses operating as usual.
"Only the feeder buses in Soweto are not operating, but the rest of the buses on major routes are running without interruption," Makgoga said.
He said the buses from Johannesburg CBD to Soweto are still operating as normal.
