Renewed calls for fresh inquest into Hani's assassination
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The South African Communist Party leader Solly Mapaila says the party is not budging from calls for a fresh inquest into Chris Hani's murder.

The anti-apartheid icon was gunned down outside his Boksburg home by Polish immigrant Janusz Walus in 1993.
In Boksburg on Monday, the party commemorated 30 years since Hani's assassination.
Mapaila says an online petition for the inquiry - into who exactly ordered the hit - is gaining momentum.
"We have to go onto an online petition because now we are prepared to take action against the minister to take the minister to court if he can't implement this inquest on the basis of an online petition.

"We have gathered thousands of signatures and we want you to join these signatures so that when we present them to the minister of justice and correctional services, there can be no dilly-dally. We want this inquest and we want the truth of who murdered and assassinated our general secretary."
Walus was released on parole under strict conditions in December.
Meanwhile, Ayanda Zulu, who's with the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union in KZN, says they need to uncover the truth.
"We are demanding nothing but the truth from those brutal murderers who killed our beloved general secretary whom we believe that if he was still alive, South Africa was going to be a better country."
