SALGA calls for closer working relationship between government spheres
Updated | By Lesetja Makhura
South African Local Government Association (SALGA) president Bheke Stofile has called for improved cooperation between the three spheres of government.

He wants national and provincial governments to support local governments in ensuring service delivery to communities.
Stofile spoke on Wednesday, the first day of a SALGA joint sitting of mayors and speakers in Limpopo, which is looking at various measures to tackle the problems facing municipalities.
Mayors and speakers from 257 municipalities across the country gathered in Polokwane for the two-day joint sitting
"We must learn to share the experience and share the resources, being human resources or financial resources. In practice, this is not happening really,” said Stofile.
"The results of disjointed and narrowed action of the sphere of government through their departments and other organs of state manifest negatively at local government.”
