The High Court in Johannesburg convicted Sandile Mantsoe of the murder of his former girlfriend Karabo Mokoena on Wednesday.
Mantsoe has also been found guilty of assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm and defeating the ends of justice.
The 22-year-old Mokoena's burnt body was found in a veld in Lyndhurst in April last year after family and friends reported her as missing.
Police claimed that Mantsoe confessed to the murder as part of a ritual which would allow his business to prosper.
But in his affidavit, Mantsoe denied that he killed Mokoena and claimed she had committed suicide.
Mantsoe claimed Mokoena was an emotionally unstable partner who attempted to commit suicide on several occasions.
This is a developing story. More to follow.
#SandileMantsoe Johnson says Mantsoe has every right not to take the stand, however without his evidence, a judgement can only be derived from the states evidence.
