SAWS: Heatwave expected this weekend
Updated | By Emile Pienaar
The South Africa Weather Service has issued a heat wave warning for the weekend, starting on Friday and lasting until Sunday.

Forecaster Edward Engelbrecht said this is the first expected heat wave of the summer season.
“We have a heatwave with persistently high temperatures that are expected over Gauteng; mostly the Highveld and eastern Lowveld of Mpumalanga as well as the Lowveld and western bushveld of Limpopo.”
“We expect it to start from Friday, and that's going to last until at least Sunday, and then we should start seeing the temperatures cooling down a bit more from Monday.”
“We can expect temperatures for Pretoria from 33°C to 35°C maximum during the day, Johannesburg 32°C and then, especially for the Lowveld. It's going to be very hot, so we're looking at temperatures of 38°C above for the Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo.”
