A 61-year-old man in Limpopo is expected to appear before the Dzanani Magistrate's Court on Tuesday to face charges of rape of a 13-year-old girl.

It is alleged that the man sexually assaulted the teenage girl multiple times at his home in Vuvha village under Vhembe District.
He was arrested over the weekend after concerned community members noticed the young girl entering the suspect's residence and alerted her guardian who was attending a church service at the time.
"Upon returning home and questioning the child, the guardian learned that the suspect had allegedly raped the victim on several occasions between 12 May and 16 May 2025, with the most recent assault occurring on 18 May 2025," says police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba.
"The victim was immediately taken to a medical facility for examination, and a case of rape was subsequently opened. The Police swiftly traced and arrested the suspect."
This is the second rape matter involving a minor and old man at Dzanani Magistrate's Court recently.
Another matter involves a 47-year-old National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) senior official who is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl.
He faces 10 counts of rape emanating from 2022 when he started to sexually abuse the girl who was 13 at the time.
