Senior Mangaung metro official gunned down

Free State police have launched a manhunt for suspects who shot and killed a senior official who worked in the Mangaung metropolitan municipality.

The 48-year-old man was ambushed as he was driving off from his workplace on Thursday.
He was the senior manager in the city's infrastructure department.
The motive behind the shooting is unknown.
"He was driving in his vehicle with a colleague. An unknown shooter approached the car and allegedly fired shots at the driver's side," said Free State police spokesperson Loraine Earle.
"Police found four empty cartridges near the car. He was declared dead at the scene. His colleague was not shot but received treatment for shock.
"Police are investigating a murder case. No one’s been arrested," she added
