The northern parts of the country will experience a bout of very
bad weather over the weekend as a tropical storm hits.

A forecaster at the South African Weather Service, Lehlohonolo Thobela, says Eloise has strengthened into a tropical cyclone.
It’s expected to make landfall on Sunday, bringing heavy rain
and flooding for some provinces in South Africa.
Limpopo and Mpumalanga will bear the brunt of the impact of the cyclone.
But the northeastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng are also likely to be affected.
“The South African Weather Service has issued a warning for winds of impact level 4 over the lowveld and escarpment of Limpopo and heavy rain, disruptive rain of a level 9 of impact-based warning has been issued for the eastern parts of Mpumalanga, the lowveld and escarpment of Limpopo and north eastern parts of KZN,” says Thobela.

He adds the severe weather may cause extensive damage.
“If there is any impact it will be displacement of communities that are affected, heavy rains, rain might cause bridges to collapse,” he adds.
“If we are expected to experience rainfall in Gauteng it will be on Monday but over the northern parts.”
Residents are urged to remain vigilant.
