Shaik denies subpoena reports

Jacob Zuma's ex-adviser says reports that he has been subpoenaed to testify against his erstwhile friend are false.

Former president Jacob Zuma's former financial advisor Schabir Shaik has described reports that he has been subpoenaed to testify in the SpyTapes case as "untrue and misleading".
Shaik, who was convicted on fraud and corruption charges in 2005, claims he has been misquoted that he will testify against Zuma.
"Mr Shaik has stated previously and still holds the view, that IF he is to be subpoenaed then he is obliged by law to appear in court failing which he will be in contempt of court," reads his statement.
The reinstated charges against Zuma stem from Shaik's conviction.
