Simon’s Town fire under control
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
A fire on the slopes of Simon's Town near Cape Town has been brought under control after a blaze ignited in the early hours of Monday morning.

The City's Fire and Rescue spokesperson Jermaine Carelse says authorities were flagged just before 6am of the blaze above Signal School.
At least 50 fire fighters were deployed to the scene, alongside crew from Table Mountain National Park and the Navy.
“Two Oryx helicopters were requested from Ysterplaat Air Force base to assist with water bombing,” says Carelse.
“The fire area has been divided into three divisions to make operations more manageable.”
No injuries have been reported.
Last month, the city was gripped by another fire, causing structural damage to the University of Cape Town’s Jagger library as well as a section of the Rhodes Memorial Restaurant.
