SIU freezes luxury properties linked to Transnet tenders
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The Special Investigating Unit and Transnet have obtained a preservation order to freeze luxury properties worth R20 million linked to contractors.

The SIU is investigating three alleged irregular contracts for property valuation services with state-owned entity Transnet.
The order by the Special Tribunal interdicts Humphrey Tshepo Moyo, Neo Shown Matlala, MM Real Estate, and accounting firm Ladybird Business Hive from selling or transferring the properties.
The contracts, awarded in 2019, 2021, and 2022, have a combined value of R89 million.
"The SIU’s investigation revealed serious flaws in the procurement processes, raising concerns about compliance with supply chain management regulations and the possibility of undue influence in the awarding of these contracts,' the SIU said in a statement on Friday.
"The SIU and Transnet reasonably believe that Transnet may not have received full and fair value for the payments made under the disputed contracts."
The preserved cars include two Porsches, a Mercedes-Benz, a VW Amarok and a Toyota Hilux.
Immovable properties include three houses in the Fourways area, an apartment in Bryanston, and four office units in Vanderbijlpark.
