SIU raids National Lotteries Commission offices in Pretoria
Updated | By Karabo Tebele
Investigators from the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) were at the offices of the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) in Hatfield on Tuesday morning.

The raid follows the signing of a proclamation by President Cyril Ramaphosa in November, authorising the SIU to investigate alleged corruption and maladministration involving the NLC.
SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says they managed to obtain a search-and-seizure warrant.
“We have been given a search warrant to search and seize documents in line with the proclamation that was signed by the president and gazetted on 6 November that gives us permission to investigate the maladministration allegations that were put through to us.”
Kganyago says the unit is working with the Hawks.
“We will be here for a while. We will be looking at documents, we will be looking at computers and we will ultimately know some time later in the day how much of it we will find here.
“We don’t do arrests as the SIU. We are here with the Hawks and once we find any criminality, we will refer it to the National Prosecuting Authority, and we will refer it to the Hawks to make sure they take the criminal side of things forward.”
