The South African National Parks has confirmed the escape of six elephants from the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga.

The big animals were last seen in the Mkhuhlu area outside Hazyview.
South African National Parks spokesperson Ike Phaahla said an attempt to capture the elephants is underway.
"We can confirm that the reports are true. We received a request from Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) to drive the elephants back into the park, but apparently, community members blocked their way, and the situation became dangerous.
"It is currently being monitored, and as soon as the police get the situation under control, we will give an update."
In July, a female lion escaped from the Kruger National Park nearby the community of Matsulu.
