Police seized counterfeit goods worth more than R19 million and arrested six suspects in Bloemfontein this week.

Over 13,000 fake item, including clothing, shoes, bags, and jewellery, were confiscated across two days, with most mimicking high-end luxury brands.
The raids were led by the National Counterfeit Goods Unit, supported by Public Order Policing, SARS Customs, brand protectors, and private security. Search and seizure warrants were executed at targeted shops in the Bloemfontein CBD.
“The SAPS remains committed to disrupting and dismantling the illegal trade in counterfeit and illicit goods in order to protect consumers, safeguard legitimate businesses, and support the South African economy,” said police spokesperson Amanda Van Wyk.
All six suspects were arrested for violating the Immigration Act, with one also facing a charge of resisting arrest.
