Somalia hotel attack toll is three dead, 27 wounded: police

Three people were killed and 27 wounded in an hours-long siege by Al-Shabaab Islamist militants at a popular hotel in Somalia's capital Mogadishu, police said on Friday.

Security forces also killed five gunmen in a gunbattle after they stormed the SYL hotel near the presidential palace late Thursday, Somali police spokesman Colonel Qasim Ahmed Roble said at a press conference.
"Three people died in the attack and 27 others including 18 civilians and nine soldiers were wounded," he said, adding that injury toll included three lawmakers.
"The situation at the hotel is back to normal now," Roble said.
