The pair, who were denied bail in February, appeared briefly before the Randburg Magistrates Court, where the state revealed it was nearing the end of its investigations.

Wilken (35) and Moodley (25) were implicated in the global child sexual abuse ring following a probe, involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and local authorities, after a minor in the United States reported a case of sextortion.

Wilken is accused of being the mastermind behind the dark web exchange of visual material for large sums of money with a network of ‘clients’ across the world.

During the bail hearing, the state revealed that, between 2023 and 2024, Wilken generated more than R3 million from his clandestine dealings, while Moodley’s account showed that she received R1.5 million despite being unemployed.

The couple faces money laundering, drug possession, and numerous other charges related to cybercrimes.

They are expected back at the same court on 16 September.
