Supra Mahumapelo suspended from ANC for 'sowing divisions in party'
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
The interim provincial committee of the African National Congress (ANC) in North West has temporarily suspended former premier Supra Mahumapelo.

Mahumapelo is accused of misconduct after he allegedly advised local mayor to defy the party's instruction to resign.
The instruction comes as the controversial step aside policy gains momentum.
IPC spokesperson Kenneth Morolong says Mahumapelo failed to account to the accusations levelled against him.
He's also accused of running parallel events during the campaigns for by-elections in some of the municipalities.
"Key among the charges that comrade Supra faces is sowing divisions in the organisations. These relate to a public meeting that he addressed sometime last month where the IPC was attacked in that meeting
"We had preferred that he subject himself to a meeting between the IPC and himself to explain the remarks he had made but he elected not to appear before the interim provincial committee.”
Mahumapelo will now faces an internal disciplinary process.
"His membership is suspended pending the finalisation of the disciplinary proceedings," Morolong adds.
"He's expected not to participate in any activity of the ANC because his membership is suspended.
