A suspected kidnapper has been killed in a shootout with police on the N12 in Johannesburg.

The suspect, who was out on bail for 29 cases of car theft and hijacking, was linked to the kidnapping and murder of Benoni businessman Shamshudeen Faki.
The 68-year-old was taken from business premises on Sunday, and a ransom demand worth millions was made to his family.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said they were alerted to the discovery of Faki's body on Monday, which had been dumped in Dalpark.
"It's alleged the victim died in the custody of his kidnappers," said Mathe.
“The police's anti-kidnapping task team, consisting of SAPS counterintelligence teams, visible policing, detectives and private security, were tracing suspects linked to the kidnapping when they exchanged fire with the deceased on the N12 between Kliprivier and Xavier off-ramp.”
