Swanepoel reinstated as Thabazimbi mayor
Updated | By Lesetja Makhura
The Limpopo High Court reinstated Tokkie Swanepoel as the mayor of the Thabazimbi Local Municipality on Friday.

The court also returned Ben Tlhabadira as council speaker.
The DA mayor and the Forum of Service Delivery speaker were removed through what the court ruled an unlawful motion of no confidence by the ANC in October 2022.
The court also set aside the subsequent replacement of the acting municipal manager, acting chief financial officer, and acting director for corporate services.
The Democratic Alliance in Limpopo has welcomed the judgment, which sees the party taking control of at least one municipality in the province.
"The judgment has put DA mayor Tokkie Swanepoel and Ben Tlhabadira from the Forum of Service Delivery back as mayor and as speaker, and the current municipal manager who was illegally appointed has also been dismissed," says DA Member of Parliament Desiree van der Walt.
The ANC's Judith Motsei Mogapi and Tshegofatso Ramoabi were removed as mayor and speaker of Thabazimbi, respectively.
