Chairperson of the Pretoria-Mabopane-Polokwane (PMP) Taxi Association, Jabu Mahlangu and his driver, Fency Mphahlele, were shot and killed on Wednesday.

Gauteng Member of the Executive Council (MEC) of Transport, Jacob Mamabolo, has condemned the killings and described it as a “heinous act”.
“This heinous act has robbed the industry of a brilliant, capable and humble leader who played an instrumental role during negotiations to resolve a dispute between long distance associations operating between Bosman Taxi Rank in Tshwane and Limpopo Province.

“This is a great loss to the sector as he was amongst those who were committed to turning the image of the taxi industry around. My heartfelt and deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr Mahlangu and Mr Mphahlele,” says Mamabolo.
The MEC has called on law-enforcement agencies to “leave no stone in bringing the perpetrators to book”.
