Taxi overturns in Vanderbijlpark leaving 19 children injured

Nineteen school children were left injured on Wednesday morning when the taxi they were travelling in overturned on Faraday Road in Vanderbijlpark.

According to ER24' s Russel Meiring, paramedics and the Provincial EMS arrived on the scene at 7:22am to find the taxi lying on its side in the centre median.
"Several children were found seated on the median being attended to by the community," says Meiring.

Medics assessed the children, aged between 7 and 12, and found that they had sustained minor to moderate injuries.
"The children were treated and thereafter transported to Johan Heyns and Mediclinic Emfuleni Hospital for further care," says Meiring.
The driver of the taxi sustained minor injuries and was also transported to hospital for further assessment.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
