The Communications Workers Union (CWU) says telecommunications provider Telkom plans to shed over 3000 jobs by March.

The union claims to have had a meeting with Telkom where they indicated that retrenchments are on the cards as a result of financial difficulties.
CWU spokesperson Aubrey Tshabalala says the telecommunications giant will be consulting further with unions on Wednesday regarding the layoffs.
“They told us that their finances are not doing well, and the economy of the country is now standing and also in terms of the macro-management with regards to regulation has made the company suffer.”
