Tembisa Hospital open to public again after fatal shooting
Updated | By Eva Chipa
The Gauteng Department of Health says the Tembisa Hospital was reopened to the public on Wednesday afternoon.

This comes after a 30-year-old police officer entered the hospital parking lot and called his partner Lebo Monene, an assistant nurse who was on duty at the time.
He then opened fire on her before turning the gun on himself.

Health Department spokesperson Motalatale Modiba says the incident left both staff and patients traumatised.
“Given the tragic incident, Tembisa Hospital had to divert calls to nearby facilities to allow the police to work on the scene of the incident and for the debriefing and counseling of both staff, patients and the deceased colleague’s family.
“The incident left both patients and staff members traumatised this morning.”
Monene died on the scene while the police officer was stabilised and airlifted to a private hospital.
