A third suspect has been added to the list of individuals wanted in connection with the murder of Wits University student Olorato Mongale.

The latest suspect, Bongani Mthimkhulu, joins Fezile Ngubane and Philangenkosi Makhanya, who are both still at large.
Mongale was last seen on Sunday afternoon after leaving her Johannesburg complex to meet a man identified only as “John.” Less than two hours later, her body was discovered in Lombardy West, prompting a widespread investigation.

According to police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe, the case has now entered a critical phase, and efforts to locate the suspects are ongoing.
“Investigations are continuing, and the search for all suspects has reached a critical and sensitive stage. Thank you to all victims who have come forward and those who have called with information on the suspects' movements for their cooperation,” said Mathe.
As part of the investigation, a white VW Polo believed to have been used to pick up Mongale was located and seized at a panel beater workshop in Phoenix, Durban. Forensic experts from SAPS examined the vehicle and found traces of blood inside.
An elderly man, believed to be the car's owner, has since been arrested.
Mongale will be laid to rest this Sunday in her hometown of Bloemfontein.
