Three Gauteng hospitals to remain without CEOs
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku says three hospitals in the province will remain without CEOs until suitable candidates are appointed.

The MEC hopes the positions will be filled by the end of this year.
The hospitals without CEOs include Bertha Gxowa Hospital, Jubilee Hospital and Heidelberg Hospital.
In August this year, the provincial department of health advertised 14 positions.
“However, no suitable candidates were found for Bertha Gxowa Hospital, Jubilee Hospital and Heidelberg Hospital, even after re-advertisement of posts. We will then embark on a process of headhunting,” says Masuku.
The 11 hospitals with CEOs include Tambo Memorial Hospital, Far East Rand Hospital, Mamelodi Hospital, Weskoppies Hospital, Sebokeng Hospital, Pholosong Hospital, Edenvale Hospital, Odi Hospital, Cullinan Care Rehab Centre and Brokonspruit Hospital.

The department says appointments are part of improving governance and leadership in the department.
The MEC was briefing the media at the department’s head offices in Johannesburg on Thursday.
Masuku says the 11 newly appointed CEOs are made up of young and experienced managers.
“We have also agreed we are going to set up a CEO’s forum which will also be guided by CEOs who are also retiring.”
Masuku says the platform will allow for the new CEOs to engage and benchmark each other.
