Emergency services in Tshwane confirmed the deaths of three people in a fire at an informal settlement in Mamelodi, east of Pretoria.

The fire broke out Wednesday morning at an informal settlement in Extension 18.
Authorities found the burnt bodies of a man, a 9-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso says the cause of the fire is unknown.
"Firefighters arrived on the scene to find an informal dwelling of about three rooms completely burned down. Members of the public reported that three people were believed to be inside the dwelling when the fire was discovered.
"We appeal to residents to make all candles are placed in a safe candleholder, never overload electrical plugs, never leave a mbaola or coal fire burning overnight without supervision, and put off or place any heating sources away from combustible materials before going to sleep," he added.
