Three people have died and two others were injured in a car crash in Germiston on the East Rand in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to the City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), the accident happened just after 03h00 at the intersection of Linton Jones Road and Brammer Street.
A sedan carrying five occupants veered off the road and struck stationary objects, including poles and a concrete wall.
Three of the passengers, two men and a woman, sustained multiple trauma injuries and were declared dead on the scene.
"Two survivors, a man and a woman, were rescued with serious injuries and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment," said DEMS spokesperson William Ntladi.
"Specialized hydraulic equipment, known as the Jaws of Life, was used to recover all five occupants trapped inside the wreckage. The road was temporarily closed to traffic while rescue operations were underway," he said.
The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
