Three suspected robbers killed in shootout with cops in Roodepoort

Three suspected robbers have been shot and killed by police in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg.

The suspects robbed a post office at a shopping mall on Thursday shortly before the shoutout with police.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Sello says one bystander was injured during the shootout.
"Police acted on information about a group of suspects involved in armed robberies around Gauteng. The team deployed to the area in Roodepoort and two vehicles matching the description received were spotted exiting the mall at a high speed.
"A chase ensued, and suspects started shooting at the members who then retaliated. Three suspects were fatally wounded, and one civilian injured.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that, the suspects had just robbed a local post office of an undisclosed amount of cash and that the vehicle used by the suspects have false number plates."
Police recovered three firearms and the stolen undisclosed amount of money.
