Transport Department receives first clean audit in 31 years
Updated | By Selaki Ledwaba
For the first time in 31 years, the Transport Department achieved a clean audit outcome for the 2024/2025 financial year.

Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy and Deputy Minister Mkhuleko Hlengwa lauded the improvement in the department’s financial controls as a significant step towards a fully accountable administration.
The department’s spokesperson, Collen Msibi, said the auditor general found no significant deficiencies in the financial management processes.
“Annual financial statements that were submitted on time without any material misstatements,” said Msibi.
“Regarding performance information, the AGSA did not identify any findings on the completeness of the indicators used for planning and reporting.”
Msibi attributed the audit outcome to the department’s commitment to clean governance and accountability.
“A combined effort and assurance practice from all functions within the department, from management efforts to risk management, internal audit and oversight committees, especially the audit committee,” added Msibi.
