A trial date has been set in the case of a 30-year-old man accused of raping and killing six-year-old Amantle Samane in October last year.

Phete Simao (30) appeared before the High Court in Johannesburg earlier on Tuesday, where he faces charges of kidnapping, rape, murder and contravention of Immigration Act.
Samane disappeared from her Orlando West home in Soweto, prompting a widespread search which ended in the discovery of her lifeless body in a backroom that Simao had been living in.
