Tribunal set to claw back ‘stolen’ R14.7 billion
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Special Investigation Unit’s Special Tribunal is set to recover R14,7 billion that was syphoned from the fiscus.

“This Tribunal is a swift mechanism to claw back every cent that was stolen from the fiscus. The era of impunity is behind us,” said Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola.
Regulations for the tribunal were gazetted on Thursday and will be chaired by Judge Gidfonia Makhanya.
The special tribunal has a statutory mandate to recover public funds syphoned from the fiscus through corruption, fraud and illicit money flows.
The value of the case that will be adjudicated stands at R14,7 billion.
“Our fight against corruption, fraud and illicit money flows has been given real impetus,” said Lamola.
