Trip at Koeberg Power Station Unit
Updated | By Lebohang Ndashe
Eskom confirmed that both units of the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1 and Unit 2, are offline after Unit 2 tripped on Sunday.

Unit 2 unexpectedly tripped during work on Unit 1, which is offline for its Long-Term Operation (LTO) program.
Eskom has initiated start-up processes after conducting a safety review, and Unit 2 is expected to be reconnected to the national grid within 48 hours.
“Eskom has since established it is safe to initiate the start-up process for Koeberg Unit 2, in line with standard operating procedures,” said Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena.
Although the trip did not lead to loadshedding, Eskom acknowledged the ongoing strain on generation capacity.
Maintenance efforts are being maintained at 7 032 MW in February, aimed at ensuring reliability for the upcoming winter demand
Updates will be provided as necessary.
