Tshwane continues to cut off big customers owing city
Companies, state entities and shopping centres in Pretoria are scrambling, some of them in the dark, to settle their unpaid utility accounts.
The City of Tshwane has continued its campaign to switch off customers it says owe it thousands and millions of rands for electricity and water usage.
It disconnection campaign continued on Tuesday with a visit to the offices of the Independent Development Trust, which apparently owes the city R8 million.
The entity was spared disconnection after paying half of the owed amount.

That's not been the case for others.
The Sinoville Shopping Centre's supply has been cut. It's apparently R16 million in arrears.
The building that the South African Police Service's national headquarters are a tenant in has also been disconnected because the property owner has allegedly not paid the R5.1 million debt.
The South African Revenue Service's landlord is also at risk of being cut off.

Some of the companies owing the city have gone to court to try and stop it from switching their lights or water off.
