Tshwane metro must provide water to Hammanskraal - Mchunu
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Water and Sanitation Minister, Senzo Mchunu has criticised the City of Tshwane for its failure to provide clean water to the residents of Hammanskraal.

The water issues in Hammesnakraal have been a headache for the municipality in recent years as residents complain about the water being filthy and contaminated with bacteria.
The issues prompted the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to launch an investigation into the matter.
Briefing the media in Tshwane on Friday, Mchunu said the city has no reason for not providing water to residents.
"We believe that the City of Tshwane has unjustifiably been resistant to providing clean water as they are supposed to, to part of the people in Hammanskraal. The area alone is supplied by three suppliers of water as a community.
One is by Magalies Water board, which has done well in the area of their supply, there are no complaints there. The second one is Rand Water which has been doing well in water supply. Where is failure is in the area supplied by the City of Tshwane."
Mchunu also admitted that his department faces incapacity challenges and issues of unfinished water projects.
