Tshwane residents get extension to collect permits ahead of the inauguration

Residents of Rietondale and those living around Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane have until Friday to collect the permits that will allow them to gain access to their properties during the inauguration.

The Presidency announced last week that residents will need permits to enter their areas on Friday afternoon and Saturday, where streets will be closed for Saturday's inauguration ceremony at the stadium.
Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) spokesperson, Isaac Mahamba, says there are a number of people who are yet to collect their permits.
They have been given an extention until noon on Friday to collect the permits.
"There are quite a few that are still to come collect their permits. We are getting calls that some of the residents are overseas, some they are not around that's why we try to make sure we cover everybody," says Mahamba.
Residents who reside along Loftus can collect their permits at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium reception area, while residents of Rietondale can collect their permits at the Rietondale Park Tennis Club in Van Der Merwe Street.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to descend on Loftus when President-elect, Cyril Ramaphosa, will be sworn in as the country's head of state.
Over 200 buses from all provinces are expected to arrive in Tshwane ahead of the inauguration, severely constraining traffic in the Loftus area.
