This after Nersa approved an increase for 13.07% increase for the current financial year.

“To that effect, as of from the beginning of September, the city will resume billing residents according to the new tariff structure,” said Mokgalapa.

Residents who were previously overcharged with the fixed charge tariff will be reimbursed with prepaid credit.

The tariffs that Tshwane proposed and unlawfully implemented from July 1 included a basic charge of R56 for residential customers and R250 for those paying agricultural tariffs.

Tshwane MMC for Finance Marelize Fourie said the reimbursements are only applicable to prepaid customers.
