Two years since AKA’s passing

Today, marks exactly two years since the murder of one of South Africa's leading hip-hop rappers, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend, former manager and celebrity chef Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.

The two were shot and killed outside the popular Wish Restaurant on Durban's Florida Road.
The music industry was hit by a blow following Kieran AKA Forbes' death on the 10th of February 2023.
The multi-award winner, hitmaker and renowned rapper was due to release his latest studio album Mass Country just days later.
Since Forbes and Tebello Motsoane's murder, seven suspects have been arrested.
Five of the seven accused are due to stand trial as the matter was transferred to the Durban High Court last week.
Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, Lindani Ndimande, Siyanda Myeza, Mziwethemba Gwabeni and Lindokuhle Ndimande, are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and five counts of attempted murder.
The state has also added two further charges of money laundering.
The matter resumes in court on May 8th.
The Ndimane brothers remain behind bars in eSwatini and are yet to be extradited.
On his recent 37th birthday, last month, his mother, Lynn Forbes, reflected on the day her firstborn son entered the world.
