Ukraine military in high spirits: Ambassador to South Africa

The Ukraine ambassador to South Africa Liubov Abravitova says the spirit of the military is high back home amidst the invasion by Russia.

Abravitova addressed the media virtually on Thursday afternoon to give an update on the situation in Ukraine.
"The combat spirits of the Ukrainan military is high, our defenders are ready to give a decisive response to the aggressor state and they will protect the Ukraine soil with all their strength. Ukraine has activated its right to self-defence under article 51 of the United Nations."
Abravitova called on democratic countries, including South Africa, to impose sanctions on Russia.
"We call on the international community to act immediately, only united and decisive actions can stop Vladimir Putin's aggression against Ukraine, we call on the democratic states in the world to immediately enact a package of new sanctions."
She has also warned South Africans to be aware of disinformation from Russia in the Ukraine conflict.
