Undercover police set to patrol Soweto derby

The 2019 Carling Black Label Cup between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will make use of undercover police officers as an extra security precaution.

An estimated 90 000 spectators will flock to FNB Stadium for the pre-season fixture between the two Soweto giants on Saturday.
Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Wayne Minaar says the undercover officers will ensure that all the spectators behave themselves.
“Additionally, there will be a huge contingent of officers present at the stadium to direct traffic.”
Spectators are advised arrive early in order to avoid congestion as some of the roads will be closed to traffic.
The match will start at 3pm while the gates will open at 11am.
