Vereeniging pupil run over by school bus
The life of a pupil from Meyerton High School in Vereeniging has been tragically cut short after he was run over by a school bus.
The young boy died on Tuesday morning while trying to board the bus.
“According to information at our disposal, the incident occurred at approximately 07:05 when learners were boarding the department’s scholar transport bus to school,” says Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona.
“It is reported that the learner was fatally trampled by the bus as he was trying to board it.

“Our psycho-social team was deployed to the school on Wednesday, and provided trauma counselling to all those who were affected by the incident.”
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances that led to the boy’s death.
