Walter Meyer's wife to return to court
The well known landscape artist was killed on Friday night. His 29-year-old wife was arrested shortly afterwards.
The 29-year-old Sophia Meyer will be reappearing in Upington Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
She is facing a charge of murder following the death of her husband, acclaimed artist, Walter Meyer, on Friday night.
The couple was reportedly arguing at their home when Meyer allegedly stabbed her husband.
Meyer died on the scene and his wife was arrested after she called the police.
"The police came to the scene. A 29-year-old female was arrested and she made a brief appearance at Upington Magistrate's Court yesterday (Wednesday)," says police spoksperson Dimakatso Mooi.
Meyer remains in police custody and is expected to apply for bail during her next appearance.
According to Mooi, the weapon used to stab Meyer is not yet known.
Meyer has been critically acclaimed for his paintings of South African landscapes.
