WATCH: Carl Niehaus resigns from the ANC with immediate effect
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
African National Congress (ANC) veteran Carl Niehaus has resigned from the party this morning.

Niehaus released a video on Friday morning, saying his decision follows the election of new leaders at the ANC’s National Conference held at Nasrec last week.
“The ANC is now finally dead and buried and all that remains is to erect the tombstone.”
Niehaus was earlier this month expelled from the ANC for the public remarks he made during and after the arrest of former president Jacob Zuma last year.
However, he says he still regarded himself a member of the party - until this morning.
“It follows for me now as a matter of my own voluntary conscious to resign from this new liberal sell-out thing that is no longer the ANC.
“To proceed with my appeal will be illogical and a waste of time and effort under the pompous, vacuous, moronic, windbag Fikile Mbalula who now so fascisly (sic) emerged as the Secretary General of the ANC. There is no chance that any appeal will be adjudicated fairly”.
Niehaus adds that the party has had imposters taking over.
“Our ANC ancestors are spinning in their graves, imposters have taken over, led by sell out agents and spies under the criminal mafia leadership of Ramaphosa.”
