WATCH: Joburg Metro Police ask for info about video showing an officer taking money
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Management of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) say they have noted a video circulating on social media of a JMPD officer allegedly receiving approximately R1 800 from an unknown individual.

The video shows the officer sitting in a vehicle and taking the cash from the member of the public, after he counted it.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says the exact circumstances under which the money was received is not yet known.
"Currently, the Department has not received a formal complaint regarding this matter and under it's Internal Affairs Unit an official investigation has been initiated. The Department is requesting for the individual who recorded this video to come forward, so Internal Affairs can get a better context of the incident and that further action may be taken."
