[WATCH LIVE] Class of 2020: Matric results announcement
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is set to announce the much-anticipated matric exam results on Monday.
The class of 2020 wrote their final exams last year under the added pressure of adjusted learning under the Covid-19 pandemic.
Schooling was disrupted in March, leaving schools, pupils and teachers scrambling to make up for lost time.
In November, the department was also rocked by an exam leak scandal when the Maths Paper 2 and Physical Science paper 2.
Motshekga is expected to detail the sectors other successes and failures for the past year.
The national pass rate of 2018 was 78.2% - a 3.1% increase from 2017.
The 2019 national matric pass rate rose to 81.3%.
The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) matric class of 2020 have received their results which indicated a pass rate of 98.7%.
