WATCH LIVE: MPs set to elect new president
The 400 new and returning Members of Parliament will elect a new president in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
The MPs were earlier sworn-in by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng as the work of the 6th democratic Parliament gets underway.
A new speaker of the National Assembly will also be chosen, with the ANC's Thandi Modise set to take up the position.
ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa is a shoo-in to assume the position of president-elect, although the DA has vowed to contest the position with a candidate of their own.
