[WATCH] Ramaphosa donates 50% of his salary

President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced he will donate half of his Presidential salary to a fund managed by the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

The Nelson Mandela Thuma Mina Fund will be launched on 18 July - the day former president Nelson Mandela would have turned 100 years old.
Ramaphosa made the announcement during the debate on his Presidency's budget vote in the National Assembly on Wednesday.

He pleaded with the nation to become active citizens in social change and follow his example.
"There is something that all of us, many of us as South Africans can do and what we can do does not need to be financial. What we can do can include just being there for those who are struggling, for those who are in need, for those who need help."
